Carrbridge is well known for its innovative and creative activity – recognised as a thriving, high achieving community, as evidenced by well-supported community events such as the World Porridge Championships, Carve Carrbridge and the community helpline and free-swap site during the pandemic. People make these events happen and as a village, we have a good sense of community and a can-do attitude to delivering projects and events.

The village organisations, with support from Voluntary Action in Badenoch and Strathspey (VABS) are looking to review Carrbridge’s Community Action Plan. In this time of huge global change, we would like to look forward to where the village might be by 2030. Perhaps you participated in the last review that took place in 2016, which had fantastic input and engagement from village residents and businesses.

Successes from Carrbridge’s 2011 & 2016 action planning include: upgrades of the village hall (including kitchen extension) and the play parks; lobbying to secure NMU from Carrbridge to Aviemore; creation of community pump track in the village; plans to restart the Youth Club, more affordable housing for families & young people and a conclusion on the Struan Hotel site’s future after many years of community petitioning.

To help add to these achievements, you are encouraged to take part in Carrbridge’s action plan review in 2022. However, this time round we are asking you to think not only about what we might achieve together, but that those projects you ask the village to consider are ones that will help Carrbridge develop a more sustainable future.

For families, although we will ask children and young people separately, we encourage you to have a conversation with them and see what they have to say.
