MAY 2008

THURSDAY 22 MAY 2008
RED SQUIRREL TALK & WALK
SAVE OUR RED SQUIRRELSThe Red Squirrel Conservation Officer for the Highlands, Juliet Robinson will talk about red squirrel conservation, survey techniques particularly in relation to Lochaber. There will also be a short film and there will be a questions/answer session at the end. Eleanor Garty, Woodland Trust officer, will talk about ancient woodlands in the Highlands

At Glencharnoch Wood, behind the village hall. Gather at the hall and bring walking boots/wellies, waterproof clothing and binoculars if you have them.

Juliet and Eleanor will lead this walk, after the talk in the hall. We will discuss basic survey techniques and look for signs of squirrels – dreys (squirrel nests), stripped cones and if we are lucky, squirrels! We are hoping that the event will encourage more people in and around Carr-bridge to report squirrel sightings and if they would like, to undertake surveys.

RED SQUIRREL TALK - Carrbridge Village Hall @ 5 – 6.30pm
RED SQUIRREL WALK - Clencharnoch Wood @ 6.30 – 8pm

Refreshments will be available during the talk in the Village Hall

MARCH 2008

SATURDAY 22 MARCH 2008
THE MAN WHO PLANTED TREES
THE MAN WHO PLANTED TREESThe Puppet Animation Festival 2008 sees Edinburgh's Puppet State Theatre Company present a magical, comical, multi-sensory adaptation of Jean Giono's well-loved story. Accompanied by his faithful dog, a French shepherd sets out to plant a forest and revive a barren and desolate landscape. Hear the wind, feel the rain and smell the lavender growing on the mountainside in this memorable blend of pupperty and inspired storytelling. Hilarious, yet profound this wonderful parable of life tells the tale of a man who saw a need and decided not to ignore it but to "put things right".
A sparkling production most suitable for age seven years upwards although most five and six year olds (and adults) will love it too. Sell out at the Edinburgh Fringe 2007 and winner of the Eco Trust Eco Prize 2007 for Creativity.
